The Trip from Hell (so far)

So last Tuesday, we left for our trip to Japan. And it has been less than pleasant so far. It started when we got to the airport. We were supposed to be traveling on United. Well, since we are traveling with our dog, we obviously have his kennel. Apparently United doesn't except XL kennels so they wouldn't take our dog. After about an hour of my husband yelling at the guy at the counter and a different airline later, we booked a flight on Frontier. They actually accepted our kennel dimensions. The only problem was we weren't scheduled to leave now until 4:05 pm! Our original flight was supposed to leave at 7:40 am.. a big difference! So we go home and then come back.. everything goes smooth through security and such. We say bye to family and then get on the plane. We fly to Denver, and Denver is under a Winter Storm Warning. It took about an hour longer to land because of the storm. Once we got off the plane, we realized that our next flight to Seattle was delayed due to weather. After boarding the plane two separate times and then deboarding again, our flight gets cancelled. In fact, not just our flight but the whole entire airport shut down. There was a good 5,000 people that slept in the airport that night. We spoke to someone at the desk in the airport and rescheduled our flight to Seattle for the next day, except our flight wasn't due to leave until 9:30 pm. That put a strain on us because our next flight to Japan was supposed to leave before our flight arrived. So regardless, we booked a hotel room that was 30 miles away from the airport (which is a $60 cab ride one way). The next day, we woke up to find out our new flight to Seattle was delayed!! Are you kidding me? So there was a definite NO that we were not making our last flight to Japan. So we had to check with Matt's boss to make sure it was okay that we were going to be a week late (seeing as how the flight goes out once a week). So here we are in Seattle for an extra week, which to some might seem like a good thing. And was have had fun so far site seeing and such.. but now our main concern is getting on the next plane. There isn't a pet slot open for this weeks flight so we aren't sure what we are going to do yet! It might come to that I have to stay in Seattle for another week BY MYSELF! That equals me not happy!! Oh well.. I have faith that the Lord will get us to Japan one way or another. If I have to put on my big girl panties and go alone then that is what I have to do.

Seven Days

Well it is almost time for us to leave! I can't believe how fast time has flown. It seems like a few days ago when I was getting the call at work from my husband telling me that we got orders to Japan. We had our going away party this past Friday. It was really good to see everyone and have them wish us off. We're going to miss everyone so much! But hopefully we can still keep in touch with some of those people. Today, I had to say goodbye to one of my very best friends! Even though her and I have only been friends for a little over a year now, I feel like she has been the big sister I never had. It was really hard to say goodbye, considering I will miss her wedding this year. But no tears were shed.. until I got in the car anyways. I feel I'm taking us leaving very well. My mom is a hot mess but that is expected! I guess I am just ready. I have lived here all my life and now I finally get to leave this little bubble I have been in. This will probably be the last time I live in Ohio. Atleast for a while anyways. After we get done with these orders I am sure we will get stationed at another base that isn't in Ohio, which is fine by me. I want to either live down south or out west. We will have plenty of time to figure it out. Well it's bedtime! Goodnight everyone!!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Well, today I turn 24!! Not officially until 6:17 am though. It really doesn't feel like my birthday. But I guess I'm old enough that birthdays aren't that important to me anymore. Other peoples are, but mine doesn't really matter to me. I have some big plans, let me tell ya! My mom said she was making hubby and I breakfast since she is off  work. Then I am meeting my work friends for lunch at El Toro! Oh how I love El Toro! But only the El Toro on Limestone.. all the others are not very good. It might just be because all of the servers and management know us there, so they make our food extra special! I have a feeling it is going to be a sad lunch however. It will probably be the last lunch I get to have with them. For the next 2 weeks we will be in northeast Ohio so it's not like I can just drive 2 hours for lunch. And then we're back down here for about 4 days and then we leave. Alcoholic beverages might be in store for this lunch! And then for dinner the family and I are going to Red Lobster. Hard to believe that is all we are doing but it is. I'm not real big into partying anymore. I hate to say it, but I'm too old for that haha. But anyways, the hubby and I went down to the new outlet mall in Monroe. It was actually really nice! I got my birthday present too! A new Coach bag and matching wallet! It's lime green and very cute! I figured it was only fitting for the warm and tropical weather we are about to be faced with. I also had dinner and drinks with one of my best friends! It was great catching up and talking and everything! Oh how I am going to miss my best friends with we leave =(.. it's okay though, because they are coming to visit in the fall, hopefully! I'll keep my fingers crossed! Well I need to get some sleep. I guess I have a semi big day tomorrow (not really)!

20 Days

Yep, only 20 days until the hubby and I get on a plane and head to Seattle. We'll be in Seattle for about a day and a half and then we get on the AMC flight and head to Japan. The flight is 14 hours!! Holy cow, such a long time. It is actually going to be longer because we have two stops once we are on the plane. We are stopping in Anchorage, Alaska (which I am totally pumped about!! sad we won't actually be able to visit much) and then we  stop in Yokota, Japan, but again for only a little while. And then finally.. after 18 hours (roughly) we land in Okinawa! I am totally dreading the plane ride. I hate planes anyways, and to be on it for such a long time is going to be horrible! It's okay though, hopefully my iPod will stay charged most of the way there. I'll just rock out to some Miranda Lambert or Snow Patrol! I am really excited to leave though. That might sound bad, but I am sick of Ohio. I have lived here all my life so to get out of here for a few years is going to be nice. We are going to miss all of our family and friends, but c'mon, 3 years really isn't that long! I think it will go by fast, so that is good for my mom (haha). I am just so ready for warm weather! Right now, it's 10:53 am and it is already 79 degrees!! Ahh it's going to be amazing! And the beaches there are incredible!! I will definitely be posting tons of pictures! Well I am going to finish watching some American Idol. Not sure really what is going on with the girls tonight, but none of them are good! Ugh! But oh well! Talk to ya'll later!

my first post.. dum dum dum

I never have thought of myself as a blogger. Actually, I used to make fun of people who did it. But a friend of mine started one and sent me the link to hers. After looking at the site, I decided to start one. I figured it's a good way to keep a journal of the journeys my husband and I are about to embark on. In just a few short weeks, we will be getting on a plane to Okinawa, Japan. He is in the United States Air Force and we are being relocated to Kadena, AB. I think this blog will be a good way for our family and friends to keep in touch and see what we're up to. Well, I know this is short, but I have to get some sleep. I will definitely be writing more on here. It's all new to me, so we'll see where it goes from here.

Night all,

Jenny
